Coronavirus pandemic. The fall of the ruble. In this situation we all have to change our lives, taking into account what is happening around. This is also true for companies.

What is changing for large Russian wholesale companies? To find out we sent them the following 5-questions survey.

1) Has the company’s work schedule changed in connection with the coronavirus?
2) Have you transferred employees to work remotely?
3) If so, how does this affect the shipment of goods?
4) What measures are you taking to protect those who still work in the office and your visitors?
5) What measures of keeping customers do you take in the situation with the fall of the ruble?

Astkol-Alfa

1) No, the work schedule has not changed.

2) Partially.

3) The goods are shipped in accordance with the regular schedule of the company.

4) We use antiseptics (wiping the door handles every 2 hours). Workers with signs of acute respiratory infections are sent home on sick leave. We carry out disinfection of rooms with recirculating UV lamps. 

5) Our measures are quality service and goods in stock.

Djaga-Djaga

1) Our company has three main divisions. These are production, wholesale and retail, represented by a chain of stores in Moscow. In all three divisions, the work schedule has not changed.

2) All employees whose physical presence is not necessary are invited to work remotely. Technical and information support is organized.

3) The company is developing. We are constantly expanding, there is no negative impact from innovations.

4) We conduct preventive conversations, replenish first-aid kits with everything necessary, carry out routine inspections before the start of each shift in production, transfer communication with partners from real-life to virtual. For visitors - the mandatory distribution of visits by time and shoe covers on their feet, optionally – medical masks.

5) We do not take any special measures. We are the Russian manufacturer, and the price of our products does not depend on the exchange rate. High quality, stable prices, a huge, constantly evolving assortment – these are our measures. But they do not depend on the fall of the ruble.

Inspite Company

1) At present, Inspirit has not changed the schedule. We still work daily from 9:00 to 18:00 (Saturday-Sunday –the regular weekend).

2) This issue is currently being worked out. If the situation becomes dire, it is entirely possible that some of the employees will be sent to work from home.

3) We are sure that when we send some employees to work remotely our dear customers should not notice this. We will ship orders on a regular basis.

4) Regular and most reliable measures: we keep our office clean, wash our hands, ventilate the premises, wipe tables, computers, and door handles.

5) We see our mission in creating new, interesting and most importantly, products in demand on the market, as well as in providing our customers with good service and efficient execution of orders.

Kazanova 69

1-2-3) Today we work as usual, employees in the office, we monitor the development of the situation. Shipment of goods is made regularly.

4) We carry out a set of measures to clean working areas with special means. They introduced strict regulations and control over its implementation. This is done both in stores and in offices.

5) Our company has no debts or loans in rubles or in foreign currency. Our stocks allows us to keep prices at the same level today.

Supplier of Happiness

1) The work schedule for today remains the same – 7 days a week from 9:00 to 21:00.

2) 100% of the administrative staff transferred to the remote mode. Warehouse employees and client department managers, as well as our courier service, are operating as before.

3) Administrative staff (management, accounting, it- department, advertising and marketing) can perform their functions remotely without complications. We always use a lot of cloud technologies in our work, so the transition to the remote mode of operation of the administrative staff did not cause any difficulties. It took me a few laptops to buy, but overall we quickly solved this problem.

4) Recirculators are installed in all rooms. We provide all employees with the necessary number of masks and disinfectants. All employees were given recommendations to minimize the use of public transport, if possible, get to work and back home by personal transport or taxi. The company compensate the costs associated with this. We have established a barrier that ensures a distance of at least a meter between employees who handle orders and visitors. We make every effort to protect personnel and prevent the spread of infection.

5) We understand how dire the situation is for everyone. To support all colleagues in the market, we do not index the prices of goods in our warehouse. To support our customers, we launched an unprecedented campaign – until March 21 we give an additional 10% discount on all goods in our warehouse.

S-Market

1) For our country, the difficult period has not come, however, the S- Market company continues to work in the same mode. So far, the work schedule has not changed, but we are following the development of the situation and will act accordingly.

Since most companies are forced to cancel their events, including training, and many of the brand representatives canceled their planned trips, we are preparing a series of online training webinars to compensate for this situation.

2) Workers of all structures are currently at work, interacting with partners. Our customers can be sure: we are ready to handle their orders any time.

3) If significant changes occur, the company will officially report this without fail.

4) Of course, we understand the conditions in which both our company and others have found themselves. For our part, we are taking all possible measures to ensure the safety of employees. Especially for this, we purchased masks and antibacterial gels, measure the temperature of employees when they come to work, and a hand disinfector is installed at the entrance. Every day our company employees disinfect gadgets, office equipment and the surfaces they touch, and also ventilate the rooms.

We care about the welfare not only of our employees, but also of our customers. Therefore, we additionally conduct a special campaign with sanitizers and gels, which customers receive as a bonus to the order, and have the opportunity to use it to additionally protect their employees.

5) The growth rate could not but affect the cost of production, so we have to adjust prices taking into account current market realities. We are constantly in touch with the brands that we represent in Russia, and together we determine the tactics during this period, taking into account macroeconomic factors.

There is no need to talk about falling demand after the prices have risen. At the moment the sales of goods have increased more than one and a half times compared to last year. We believe that the reason here is simple, as we continue to present top- quality products and, despite the rise of the dollar, we keep good prices. The stability of demand for products is ensured also by the active work of the company to expand the range of products. So, for example, in the nearest future we expect three new collections and an extension of existing ones from California Exotic Novelties.

Erotic Fantasy

2) So far, no one has been sent to work from home, however, it was decided to cancel the face-to-face meetings of managers with clients. All issues are resolved using Skype and instant messengers.

3) Shipments are made as usual.

4) As a method for the disease prevention, ventilation systems have been cleaned and improved, all employees use antiseptic gels and sprays, and we also measure temperature regularly. If you feel sick, you should inform the management of the symptoms and go home.

5) At the moment, we maintain the same prices and do not plan increase them. 3 promotions have been launched – discounts on goods in various categories.

Le Frivole and CostumeShop

1) No changes.

2) No, they did not go, because this makes no sense. There is no problem, but the panic due to the bad news background.

3) As far as our shipments are concerned, everything goes practically according to plan. This week has been a little worse, but most customers understand that life does not end with the appearance of a virus that has a mortality rate tens of times weaker than the flu.

4) We wash our hands, eat apples and ventilate rooms! In general, a person with the good immunity rate is not afraid of anything.

5) All manufacturers and distributors have raised prices. Some of our products (suits, underwear, belts) are produced in Russia, so we suffer a little less from the growth of the exchange rate, and, accordingly, we do not raise prices by the entire exchange rate difference. This is beneficial to our customers. We plan to hold a webinar and share our thoughts on what retail can do in the current circumstances. We shifted the emphasis on the development of new products to the budget segment, but this will only bear fruit in the future. The most important thing is to communicate with the customers and “reassure” those who are worried, but there are few of them. Most of us have long developed “immunity” to crises, for so many of them have happened in Russia lately.

X-market

1) The schedule of the company has not changed, but we are taking measures that will allow it to be done if necessary or there are official prohibitions from executive authorities.

2) So far, employees have not been sent to work from home.

3) Shipment of goods takes place as usual. Warehouse workers are provided with protective equipment. Individual packaging of each product is treated with a disinfectant liquid before shipment. Also at least twice a day wet cleaning and airing of the warehouse are carried out.

4) In the office we carry out the disinfection of door handles, the obligatory washing of hands for all who come in, the distribution of disinfectant liquid for individual use. We provide employees with masks and we increased the frequency of wet cleaning and ventilation.

5) We “froze” prices and made it known to all customers by sending and publishing on our official Facebook page.
