A book called “Cinderella and the Glass Ceiling and Other Feminist Tales” by two comedy writers came into my hands for a review, which is very noticeable, frankly.

Let me remind you that I do not consider myself a feminist, therefore my opinion is built through the prism of a person's perception outside the agenda.

The book contains 12 fairy tales, rewritten in a modern manner with an emphasis on feminism. Although the same “Beauty and the Beast”, as for me, is just a personal trip. As if the authors were high and such, they say, count how funny it will be! No kidding, there is no morality nothing, just solid sur and abstraction. In general, most of the book reminds me of a very subtle trolling of the same feminism. And so thin. If I am not mistaken in my conclusions, then my respects.

Princes are everywhere ugly, although many are very undeserved, and the nagging of the princesses looks like outright nagging at them. In the same stubborn Rapunzel (there is about body positive), the prince's thoughts are expressed like this: “Damn”, thought the Prince. “Again, I said the wrong thing. It's so hard to talk to her”.

In Snow White, the Evil Queen is exposed as passive-aggressive in everything, and she is accused of this not even on the case. For example, she complimented her foreign citizen for having learned the language of the state, and she was accused of micro-aggression. Suddenly, a person is hurt by her words, because this is an allusion to the fact that he is a newcomer.

The authors themselves change their shoes on the agenda on the fly. At first, they ask to look at the world from a broader perspective, but they themselves describe the culture of consent through a humiliating collective image of men. No kidding, I'd be offended.

In general, at the beginning of the tale, Cinderella wanted to improve her financial situation through the prince. The prince at the ball refused her because of the difference in social strata. Cinderella quickly called him a complete freak, and then achieved everything herself in spite of the fact. Well, this is straightforward.

Of all the fairy tales, we found only five good ones, which I would read to my seven-year-old niece. The rest, I would recommend slipping to children at the age of 12-13, if you really want to.

Fairy tale “Red Riding Hood” about pestering men on the street. “Peter Pan” about the fact that sometimes people intentionally vented to each other, so you need to listen to the man himself, and not the opinion of him. “The Princess and the Pea” about the adoption of a different orientation of the family and what is not necessary to marry for the sake of something there, if it is not necessary upon you. “Thumbelina” something in common with the previous tale. Well, “The Three Bears” is very fun about personal boundaries in society. We're sincerely laughed.

Many fairy tales have a very good meaning, but all this is shown through such an unpleasant prism that at times it is already sickening. That is, the idea is good, but the implementation is not.

This book is not for everyone. Even fairy tales are designed for different ages, for sure. Often, the entire agenda is shown through the disgusting image of men. That is, we are good, because they are bad, and this is a questionable tactics, I think. Some tales are quite radical in their judgments. And some, except for the questions “WTF?!” cause nothing.

I do not want to show my niece from an early age that all “princes” are ugly perverts and idiots, and she will find out everything herself. Vice versa! I want to show that all people are good, you just should not shift the responsibility for your actions and decisions to others. Why hate men so much I honestly, I do not know, but this is my personal issue.
